An adaptation like this has to be practical first, but it should not feel clinical. The new bedroom was built as a proper single-storey extension with a hipped tiled roof to match the house, and the layout was set up so the ground floor works without compromise. Refurbishing the kitchen alongside meant the family got the whole downstairs finished in one go.
